Mining for the BHP mines at Broken Hill ceased 28 February 1939. BHP wasn't the one mining operation at Broken Hill nevertheless, and mining continued within the southern and northern ends of the Line of Lode. During the early 20th century, Broken Hill was a centre of mining innovation resulting in a practical froth flotation course of action.[13]
